Pilot script for Werewolves of New Idria passes another hurdle

Two high-level movie folks have had the script for a couple weeks and they got back to Marshall Teague, who optioned the script. The word is they love the script and the concept. They only had one suggestion, write no more than a page and a half new opening scene to tie in an element that originally wasn't introduced until the very end of the story.

After thinking about it for about 10 seconds I realized it was an outstanding idea. I slept on it and the next morning it took me about 20 minutes to make the change. It really sets up the rest of the story very nicely.

Marshall has been in Hollywood for about a week not only working on a documentary about Patrick Swayze, but attending several pitch meeting for the script. He said response has been fantastic. The last meeting of the day was with someone he has known for 40 years while working in the film business. More than a year ago, she read the first draft and made a recommendation that changed everything. The script went from being the 900-year story of a family of werewolves based on my book, to the introduction of the main characters and how the saga begins. It's basically the first two pages of the book in a two-hour script. I have to admit, she knew what she was talking about.

He gave the script to her yesterday, Sept. 14, 2018. She said if she really liked it she would pass it along to the production person at one of the biggest named producer-directors in Hollywood, who I can't name at this time.

Afterwards, Marshall and I talked over two hours about the possibilities if this turns into a series. One thing he said was very interesting. He was being pressured to submit the script as a theatrical project rather than a TV series. He was asked why we were going for a series and he explained that it is a 900-year story that could not be told in a single film. The other reason, he said, was because a TV series would employ many more people for a longer time. I thought this was outstanding.
